The Heart Behind the Yarn
In 2026, Angie and Tim Everett put feet to their dream and opened The Yarning Portal in Blackfoot, Idaho. After years of ordering yarn off line and because of the yarn vacuum created by the closing of Joann Fabrics, they decided the Eastern Idaho area needed a local yarn store specializing in yarns you couldn't find in person. Yarns like Premier Yarns and Ice Yarns, that typically aren't found in big box stores or local shops. While they do specialize in yarn, you can also find fiber art notions and handmade crochet & knit items for sale.

Premier Yarns
The Yarning Portal offers a great selection of Parfait Chunky, Parfait Plush, Spun Colors, Jeweltones, Puzzle, Spice Shop, and other Premier Yarns.
Ice Yarns
Coming out of Turkey, Ice Yarns are rarely seen in stores. TYP offers a variety of colors in VisCot & Picasso. They are always on the lookout for recommendations on what else to add.
Windbreak Farms Alpacas
A local (Rigby, Idaho) alpaca farm, Windbreak Farms Alpacas offers 100% alpaca yarn as well as Alpaca/Wool/Silk blends that are hand-dyed.

The Yarning Portal offers unique notions for crocheters and knitters alike! From gorgeous scissors to off-the-wall pattern books, they have something for everyone. Especially the oddballs.
